E-commerce in Meknes: selling the Saïss beyond the city walls

Meknes sits in one of Morocco’s richest farming plains. And a lot of what it grows still leaves in bulk, with no brand on it. We build online stores and trade catalogues so local producers, cooperatives and Agropolis manufacturers can sell under their own name, at home and abroad.

In short

Tourak Digital Group builds online stores in Meknes for olive oil, Saïss produce and Agropolis manufacturers. Either a basket with cash on delivery or CMI card payment, for consumers. Or a catalogue with no public prices that brings in quote requests from trade buyers. Food products fall under ONSSA, and that gets settled before launch. Office at IMM Richel No. 17, Avenue des FAR. Who buys from Meknes online

Extra virgin olive oil, cracked and preserved olives, mountain honey, almonds, dried figs, herbs. Between the Saïss and the Zerhoun hills there’s enough for a full catalogue, and three kinds of buyer go looking for it.

Moroccan households in Casablanca, Rabat or Tangier who want oil “from back home” without waiting for the summer visit. The diaspora in France, Belgium and Spain, ordering for themselves or for parents still here. And trade buyers, delicatessens, restaurants, distributors, who need a price, a volume and a lead time.

A checkout for consumers, a catalogue for trade

A shopper wants to add to cart, pay, receive. A procurement manager doesn’t. He wants pack sizes, minimum order quantities, a spec sheet, certificates and a name to call. Put both on one page and you lose one of them.

For a plant at Agropolis, on the El Hajeb road, we often build a catalogue without a cart. One page per product, a quote request that captures the product and the volume, and an English version for foreign buyers who don’t read French. For a cooperative or a shop in the new town, it’s a classic store with stock and order tracking. Some businesses need both on the same site. That’s fine.

The Meknes trading calendar

April, SIAM. The International Agriculture Show brings exhibitors and buyers from all over the country. If your store is live before the show, a QR code on the stand turns a handshake into an order.

Autumn into winter is the olive harvest, and the time for pre-orders of new-season oil, with a published shipping date and the money coming in early.

Ramadan and Eid push basket sizes up with gift boxes, dates, nuts, honey. The dates move every year. Be ready three weeks ahead.

In September, thousands of students arrive at Moulay Ismail University. Small baskets, cash on delivery, everything on the phone. The store has to be light.

Payment, delivery, returns

Cash on delivery is still the norm for many Moroccan buyers. We switch it on, and add one step that changes everything, a quick confirmation call or WhatsApp message before each parcel goes out. A refused parcel costs a round trip. A thirty-second call prevents most of them.

Card payments go through CMI, under your bank’s e-commerce contract. Shipping is priced by zone and real weight, with your own courier in Meknes, Ouislane and Toulal and a national carrier for everywhere else. Oil travels in glass or tins, so the weight table and packing rules get settled before launch.

Moroccan consumer law (Law 31-08) gives online buyers seven days to change their mind, and Law 09-08 covers personal data. Terms of sale and the privacy notice are written before opening day. Not after the first complaint.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a licence to sell olive oil online?

Yes, a health authorisation. Like any food product, olive oil falls under ONSSA, Morocco’s food safety office, and the unit that bottles it must be authorised or approved, online or in a shop. We show that number on the product pages. Buyers take it as a sign of trust.

Do you handle deliveries?

No. The store connects to your courier in Meknes and the national carrier you pick. We set the shipping rates and the tracking your customers see.

Can a catalogue hide prices?

Yes, and plenty of manufacturers prefer it. Prices stay in the quotes. The page shows the range, the volumes and the documents a buyer needs.

How long does it take to open a store?

The opening date goes in the quote. It depends mostly on how many products there are and what photos you have, and the schedule lists what we need from you at each step.
