Fez and around

Web design in Moulay Yacoub, the hot-spring town

A small town at 238 metres, about 20 km north-west of Fez. Its name travels much further than its size. The water comes up from 1,500 metres underground at 54 °C, and people come from all over Morocco to bathe in it.

Visitors who plan every detail

Nobody ends up in Moulay Yacoub by accident. Spa visitors travel from other cities, often with an elderly parent, sometimes for several nights. Before they leave, they want to know where to sleep near the baths, how many stairs there are to the room, whether there’s parking, whether they can cook. Whoever answers clearly, on a website or a Google profile, gets the call.

The water, sulphurous and full of minerals, has a long reputation for skin conditions and rheumatism. The baths are run by Sothermy, a subsidiary of the state-owned CDG set up in 1979. Around them, a whole small economy lives off the visitors. Flats to rent, hotels, cafés, towels and bath products, rides from Fez.

Fill the rooms before guests arrive

A lot of rooms here are still let by word of mouth, once the guest is already standing in the street. A simple site flips that. Real photos, prices you set, walking time to the baths, an enquiry form. Rooms fill in advance, and you pick your guests instead of waiting at the door.

Add a Google Business Profile with recent photos. That’s what shows on Maps when someone types “Moulay Yacoub hotel” or “Moulay Yacoub apartment”. Mention what people check first, a lift, ground-floor rooms, a kitchen, and you’ve answered the call before it’s made.

Writing for older guests, and for whoever books for them

When the visitor is elderly, it’s often a son or daughter in another city who books. So the site has to reassure two people. One wants to know about access and heating. The other wants to book and pay without making the trip.

Readable text, big buttons, a phone number that never scrolls out of sight, directions from the Fez road. We design the site around that, Arabic first, French second, English if you host foreign guests. On health, we’re careful. We describe the facilities and the water’s reputation. We promise no cures.

One province, two very different markets

Moulay Yacoub gives its name to a whole province, and its most populous commune is Ain Chkef, on the southern edge of Fez. Here people come for a stay. There, they live day to day. Run a business in each and two separate pages will do far better than one vague text that talks to nobody.

Frequently asked questions

My guesthouse is small. Is a website worth it?

Start with a Google Business Profile. Then a one or two-page site to show the rooms and take enquiries. We won’t sell you more than you need.

Can guests see availability online?

Yes, with a calendar you update from your phone. Guests see the free dates and send a request.

My place is a fair walk from the baths. Should I keep quiet about it?

No. Give the real distance, and the fix (parking, a taxi, help with the bags). Guests who find out on arrival leave bad reviews. Guests who knew choose with open eyes, and they come back.

Can we mention the health benefits of the water?

Yes, carefully. Describe the facilities and the water’s reputation, no medical promises. It’s more honest, and it’s what Google expects from pages that touch on health.
