Anti-food-waste marketplace
JaiDuRab: an anti-food-waste marketplace, website to app
Sunday’s leftover tagine, the baker’s unsold pastries at 7 pm, vegetables that won’t last the week. JaiDuRab started from a simple idea: what’s left over in one home can feed another, cheaply, in the same neighbourhood.

In short
JaiDuRab is an anti-food-waste marketplace designed, built and run by Tourak Digital Group. Individuals and businesses sell home-made meals, surplus baskets and unsold food to people nearby. It includes a website, an Android app, a business area, a courier area and a wallet. It runs in France (jaidurab.com) and in Morocco (jaidurab.ma, Arabic first, cash on delivery).

Our own product
JaiDuRab isn’t client work. We came up with it, built it and run it. That changes how we work: we pay for our own mistakes, read every piece of user feedback and fix things fast. The name comes from Moroccan Arabic.
What it does
- Listings for meals, pastries, fruit and veg, bread, groceries, with halal, vegan and organic filters.
- A business area for restaurants and bakeries.
- A courier area for local deliveries.
- Messages, favourites, orders and a wallet.
- Online payment in France, cash on delivery in Morocco.
Sign-up is free for everyone.
Trust between strangers
Buying food cooked by a stranger raises real trust questions. The site says so on the first visit: these are sales between individuals, check the seller’s reviews, ask about allergens, report anything odd. Not great marketing. Honest, though.
Two countries
The Moroccan version isn’t a translation. It opens in Arabic, highlights restaurants and community, and runs on cash on delivery because that’s how people buy there.
Behind the scenes
Laravel and PostgreSQL, Stripe in France, a Flutter Android app distributed as an APK beta ahead of Google Play, hosted at O2Switch. What we learn here about payments and moderation feeds into client work: see mobile apps.

Frequently asked questions
Is JaiDuRab a Tourak Digital client?
No, it is a group product. Tourak Digital designed it, develops it and runs it.
Why cash on delivery in Morocco?
It is the most common way to pay for this kind of purchase in Morocco, so addresses and delivery are built around it.
